If you encounter Wi-Fi connection failure, start by checking the printer’s indicator light. Different light colors indicate different problems. Here’s how to troubleshoot based on the color of the indicator light:
Potential cause 1: Wi-Fi network is in the 5GHz band
Solution: Make sure your Wi-Fi is using the 2.4GHz band. The printer only supports 2.4GHz and does not work with 5GHz or guest networks (guest networks often limit device communication).
Most routers today offer both 2.4GHz and 5GHz. To avoid issues, isolate the 2.4GHz band. If you’re unsure how to do this, contact your router’s customer support for help.
Potential cause 2: Incorrect Wi-Fi Password
Solution: Reset the printer and reconnect. Press and hold the red reset button at the back of the printer until you hear a beep. The indicator will turn from flashing yellow to solid yellow, indicating the printer is ready to connect. Enter the correct Wi-Fi password during the network pairing process.
Potential cause 3: Printer is disconnected
Solution: Reset the printer and reconnect. Press and hold the red reset button on the back of the printer until you hear a beep. The indicator will turn from flashing yellow to solid yellow. Follow the on-screen instructions in your phone app to reconnect the printer, ensuring you enter the correct Wi-Fi password.
Issue 1: App interface is stuck.
Solution: Return to the previous interface and re-enter the current interface.
Issue 2: Network connection cannot be carried out.
Solution: Check the Network Connection video in Explore-Guides-Network Connection(, or scan the QR code on the top of the printer to watch the unboxing video). Follow the instructions to connect to the network.
Issue: Printer indicator light flashes yellow for a long time.
Solution: Wait for the solid yellow indicator light before connecting to Wi-Fi. Or restart the printer and reconnect.
Issue 1: Printer not searchable
Solution: Ensure your phone or your tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi as the printer. And make sure it’s not a guest network. Restart the X-MAKER app, X-MAKER JOY and router, then reconnect.
Issue 2: Printer available but failed to connect
Solution: If the network connection is successful but unstable, restart the X-MAKER app, the printer, and the router, then reconnect.
Ensure the 2.4GHz frequency is isolated on a dual-band router. Then long-press the red reset button on the back of the printer and reconnect to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.
Issue 3: App interface stuck on the guide page
Solution: Restart the X-MAKER app, skip the guide pages, navigate to Printer, and tap Search printers. Once the printer appears, tap Connect to connect the printer.
Issue: The indicator light flashes blue
Solution: Please wait for a few seconds. The light will turn solid blue, and then you can continue operations.
